Coconut which is a staple of the coastal region is now a hot topic for healthrelated discussions as more and more people are realizing its health benefits. In Asian countries such as India, Thailand, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, etc. coconut has been used since ancient times in almost all recipes and is a staple ingredient. There is not a single part of the coconut tree that goes to waste in these countries. The fruit meat and water are very important and also the oil extracted from coconut is used for cooking. However, its benefits have recently come to light to the entire world. But scientists are also quick enough to identify that there are certain fatty acids in coconut that are more beneficial to the body than the rest, and that is how MCT oil came into being. MCT means medium-chain triglycerides. Regular coconut oil contains a mixture of both medium-chain triglycerides as well as long-chain triglycerides, however, researches have shown that MCTs are easily digested in the body than LCTs. Hence the energy is released quickly. Whereas a regular coconut oil that contains both MCTs and LCTs takes a longer duration to digest all the LCTs hence is not that effective as MCT oil. When compared to regular coconut oil, MCT oil is superior. But MCT oil is also a combination of various MCTs like C6, C8, C10, C12, etc. which are present in different concentrations. To tap the complete benefits of a particular MCT, you need to opt for oil, which is completely made of that particular MCT like C8 oil from InnerBio.
While in an MCT oil, C8 concentration might just be anywhere between 7-10% whereas you get 100% of the C8 oil in this product. C8 is known as the caprylic acid and it is an important MCT in inducing higher ketone levels. It is also known as octanoic acid as it is made up of eight carbon chains which is its unique characteristic. It is also one of the most important medium-chain fatty acids when it comes to keeping the metabolism active. Unlike the long-chain fatty acids, the caprylic acid is broken down faster inside the body. It does not need bile or other digestive enzymes to digest it as it directly enters the portal vein and travels to the liver where they are released as ketones which are an instant source of energy to the body. The liver produces ketones when large amounts of fats are broken down inside the liver. It is easier for ketones to travel to the brain crossing the blood and provides instant energy to the brain, hence when you consume C8 oil you will feel refreshed throughout the day. It is great for those who are suffering from brain fog, lack of concentration, forgetfulness, etc. The oil boosts the brain with energy which helps in improved concertation and helps remove the brain fog.
Epilepsy: Seizure is an unpleasant event, and caprylic acid has shown evidence of reducing the number of seizures in patients who are suffering from epilepsy.
Alzheimerâs Disease: Studies have found that caprylic acid may slow down the progression of mild to moderate Alzheimerâs Disease.
As said before, caprylic acid is easily digested in the body. It does not have to go through the usual lengthy process of digestion that the long-chain triglycerides have to go through. Instead, it is directly taken to the liver through portal vein where it is broken down to release ketones. Since the rate of oxidation is faster it needs extra energy, therefore in the process, your body burns calories much faster with the addition of caprylic acid and also it reduces fat deposition. Caprylic also promotes a sense of satiety thereby preventing you from craving or binge eating.
Yeast Infection: C8 Oil can also be used topically to treat yeast infections along with consuming it internally. Caprylic acid is known to hinder the morphogenesis of the Candida yeast, thereby hindering its growth and helping the skin cure faster.
Acne: Caprylic acid has anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties and hence they can be used in the treatment of acne.
For a person to be healthy, it is extremely important to have a healthy gut in the first place. Although caprylic acid is not a probiotic, researchers have found that it helps in supporting the good bacteria in the gut or the gut flora, thereby promoting a healthy gut. The anti-inflammatory and antifungal qualities of the caprylic acid help in maintaining the good health of your digestive system. In inflammatory bowel disease such as Crohnâs and Ulcerative colitis an inflammatory protein called interleukin-8 is released which causes inflammation in different parts of the digestive tract. Caprylic acid prevents the release of interleukin-8 thereby arresting the inflammatory process and allowing the gut to heal.
Caprylic acid has been observed to help diabetic patients by increasing insulin sensitivity and improving glucose metabolism thereby normalizing the blood sugar levels. It also helps diabetic patients lose waist circumference and also reducing overall body weight.
Since it is difficult for malnourished patients to absorb nutrients from their food, this is where caprylic acid comes in. Since it does not have to go through the lengthy process of digestion similar to other food, it can be easily digested and absorbed. It can be used in several malnutrition conditions such as cholecystectomy, patients undergoing other bowel surgeries, people suffering from chronic diarrhea, difficulty in digesting fat, etc.
Inner Bio C8 oil can also be used by people who have hypertension and hyperlipidemia. Caprylic acid has shown to bring blood pressure to normalcy and also reduce cholesterol in the body.
Be it gym, aerobics, any athletic event, or any dance event, caprylic acid helps improve your exercise performance by providing instant energy.

Coconut oil is a mixture of short-chain, medium-chain, and long-chain triglycerides of which only 55% are MCT and the percentage of caprylic acid might be very less, around 7-15%. The same goes with MCT oil. Although MCT oil is better than coconut oil as it contains 100% medium-chain triglycerides, however, there are four types of MCTs in an MCT oil and they are C6, C8, C10, and C12. So all these four MCTs will be present in varying percentages in an MCT oil, and C12 also known as lauric acid is rather inefficient compared to other MCTs, so the desired effect on the body might be delayed. Whereas C8 oil is made up of 100% caprylic acid which is an essential and extremely efficient MCT when it comes to ketosis. Hence the desired results can be achieved even with a small dosage.
